Hello everyone. Has anyone used this brand of pour on ivermectin? I can purchase this on Amazon.ca
Durvet Ivermectin Pour On 250 Ml

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00JAL3AAW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_OCMyCb63REF84

I am curious can i use it internally as well? Or do I have to use the injectable for interal treatment?
I haven't used that particular brand, but I have used ivermectin pour on. The best thing to do is put a few drops on the backs of their heads (on their skin, not their feathers). The number of drops varies depending on the size of your bird.

You mentioned internal treatment. I'm assuming that you're treating for worms. From everything that I've been told, the topical treatment will address those as well.

@Texas Kiki, @casportpony or @ronott1 are definitely more knowledgeable than I. Hopefully they'll stop by soon to verify and give more specifics, such of exact doses.

That is used externally only.

Minimum effective dose is 0.05 ml per pound of body weight.
Maximum dose is 0.1 ml per pound of body weight.

If you can't weigh your birds, just assume that most laying hens weigh about 5-6 pounds, so give them 0.5-0.6 ml topically on the skin. This should treat lice, mites, large roundworms, possibly cecal worms, but will not treat capillary worms or gapeworms.

I have two questions on treating mites with ivermectin!!!

I found this thread while googling a treatment for mites and ivermectin...

I have oral ivermectin paste for horses. My husband is suggesting to make a runny paste with the paste and oil or water and apply on chickens (externally) to control mites since we cannot purchase pour on stuff in Canada and purchasing from US is a bit expensive. Do you think it would work? Another question is should I discard eggs for a while after the treatment?

You can use paste for horses. Tell me the exact name of the product you want to use and I will calculate the dose for you. No need to make a runny paste, it can be given undiluted, but I need to know which one you have.

Okay, that's the same as we have here. To use that, give 0.025 ml per pound of bodyweight (0.053 ml per kg of bodyweight) orally.

Not sure sure where in Canada you are located but I purchased oral ivermectin at our country co-op in New Brunswick.
