This is the egg I dropped, then threw away...twice. I think that was somewhere around day 7 or 8? I can remember. Anyway, its still doing great! I guess duct tape really does fix everything!

I guess my first hen to go broody this month has gone into lockdown! Tuesday is hatch day! I'm going to have to check on her tomorrow to hear if she's 'talking' to the eggs yet. That would be a good sign that chicks should be working on hatching out. Yay!

What is the best way to mark breeds as they hatch? Are leg bands the only option?

I use the little hair bands that you use on toddlers. They come in packs of 100 and in multi color packs.

Thanks chickydee! You too! I have 2 more hens due to hatch on the 29th. I'm going to be swimming in chicks by month's end, lol!
