I feel like we're hy-jacking this thread....you want the tail standing up. And the feathers shouldn't have any white lacing to them...that's another trait hard to breed. The males should have a robust comb as well.
I once took a Sharpie to one of my birds to get rid of the lacing but the judge spotted it:th

I figured if I kept slapping pics on it they’d ignore us. ;)

Hey Sean, What is the lethal gene when breeding two short legged birds?
When 2 short leg birds mate the embyro will be (dis) died in shell or shortly after it hatches, or pips and dies, and sometimes they fail even to develop. The short leg birds are the carrier of the lethal gene. Can't remember what they call it right now, I'll have to look it up, again.
