Leghorns are cuckoo crazy!

Seriously...now I know what flighty means... I kind of thought it meant the birds were not people-friendly, but no...it means they are

CRAZY! Straight up insane.

I have 3 White Leghorns, 13 weeks old, and I got them mostly just to have white eggs. I'm really not sure I should keep them. They are constantly freaking out and they are SO sneaky! I swear they wait at the coop door to try to escape every time.

All of my other ladies are sweet and laid back. Also, they HATE the babies. Much more so than any of the other older hens.

Is there anything I can do??

Sorry, but not really. I had 2 for many years, the never really settled down. Unless we had a BBQ, at which time they became everyone's best friend! Anything for a handout!

I hate Leghorns. Sorry. They're horrible. Have you ever tried chasing one around an acre, filled with bushes and trees, pathways, hamics, trampolines, meadows, patios and a garage?

I think they are pretty but I agree they are absolutely nuts... I'd suggest clipping wings so they can't fly up in a tree so you can't get to them at night and when I go into my pen, I keep a bucket in front of me so I can drive all the hens back... it helps me prevent escapees unless of course it is their day to be out.

Wow! My leghorn is very well behaved. She is top of pecking order but is friendly to all my other chicks. She even lets my Polish snuggle up to her in a nest outside when they are chilling.They all share the same nest box. She goes to pen from coop & from pen to coop w/o any problems. although she does like to fly part of the way. I figure it allows her to exercise her wings.She loves to be petted and originally was my friendliest although now all are. On top of all this she gives me an egg every single day. Wouldn't do w/o my leghorn.
