I got nine baby chicks. All supposedly sexed female. New to raising chickens and loving it so far. I got 3 RI reds on 4/25 so Ive had them for almost 8 weeks and one seems to be a cockerel....help! All three of them are in this picture. All the same age from the same hatchery and picked up on same day. What do you guys think?? The one in question will be obvious...I’m hoping. Even the best experts sexing day old chick get 94% correct at best. Most of the averages are about 80%. Sexlinks are of course almost all correct, But there are exceptions in those also. (but rare)
It can be your chick was correctly sexed, but accidentally dropped into wrong pile. At that point, they are not going to look for that wrong chick.... :he If you were doing something repetitiously all day long,:th you would be prone to a mistake or two.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and:welcome

Yeah, I understand that and it’s fine. But I just want to know the sex and adhere to my town bylaws! Thanks for your reply.

Is it possible that one might be older than the others? Without a full body pic, it can be hard to tell for sure, but that's an acceptable comb and wattle for a hen ready to lay or laying... if that gives you any hope ;)

Yes agree with LateBirdFarms one could be coming into lay. How old are your chickens. Like people chicken will mature at different ages. Hopefully you'll get an egg instead of a crow 😁

Thank you for your response! (S)he is about the same size as the others. Still very small to be laying or about to be laying. A little bigger. The feet are bigger..even if he/she may be a little older I’d be surprised if she was that much older than the others.
