MJ's little flock

16 years old seems a bit long in the tooth for going broody 🤔

Hen status. Mary is still hiccoughing a few times a day, but is otherwise thriving, if prone to spending a lot of time sitting down.

Peggy is not as quick on her feet as she was but does not appear to be unwell. I'd say she's aging and probably missing Ivy.

Katie's comb is not as red as I'd like and she's either highly energetic or sitting quietly. So I'm concerned about her health and hope to learn more soon because the older three have an appointment with Dr Mark soon.

Melissa continues to grow and gambol about. I worried about her when she was a chick but she's doing great now she's a few months older.

Last night she was fascinated by the neighbours' chatter over the fence.

Apparently they were discussing best approaches for pigeon chasing, according to objectives such as fun, pigeon disruption, speed, cornering, surprise etc.
What are the hanging jars MJ? Just decorative or for candles or insect destruction maybe?

Hmmm I guess I could put candles in them if I hung them on chains.

They're solar-powered lights from Ikea. The pattern in the glass of the jars throws a lovely light on the table. I hung three because one didn't provide enough light and they're staggered so they don't smash into each other in the wind.
