My Baby Girls are Coming in Two Days

Hi,

Do you have a brooder, heat source, shallow water dish, bedding, and chick crumbles all ready to go? This will give you something to focus on.

The chicks stay in the brooder, and you just need to make sure they're at the appropriate temperature so they don't get too hot or too cold. New ones should be at 90-95F, then down 5 degrees each week.

Here is an excellent article for how to raise them their first six weeks: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/brooding-chicks-the-first-6-weeks.74640/

You don't have to hold them until you're ready.
