my Maisy died in the nest box. What might have killed her?

Yesterday we didn't collect eggs because two girls were laying when I sent the kids out to collect them and I kind of forgot about it after that. Today I went to collect eggs and found Maisy the Easter Egger dead in the next box. She was alive last night.

She did not have any obvious injury, puncture, etc. No broken bones or anything physically amiss. She did have broken yolk all over her vent and that general area. The day before I noticed that the eggs I brought into the house seemed to have yolk on them and a couple days before that I found a yolk on the poop boards. Everybody seemed happy and healthy and she was running around with the rest of the flock.

What do you think she died of? I haven't dealt with internal laying or egg bound before. I know that we have gotten two green eggs a day (we have 2 EEs) as recently as 4 days ago. Can they go that quickly?

RIP Pretty girl....

Does it sound like she was egg bound? Internal layer?

I'm not even sure what goes on with internal laying. I just feel bad, like I should have noticed something was wrong...
