hello, i’m back with an update on Noah, our mystery chick!
i’m looking for any advice or opinion on what breed Noah could be?
i should note that she was selected from a Black Australorp bin.
her coloring is a smidge lighter in person.
she is most assuredly grey and not black.
thank you in advance!

What is the color of the bottom of her feet? White? Pink-ish? Yellow?
I'm thinking Sapphire Gem or Blue Australorp. I believe Sapphire Gems have yellow feet and Blue Australorps have white.
i just checked her feet — they appear yellow on the bottoms.

I also believe she is a Sapphire Gem. I raised one a while back, and she looked incredibly similar at that age. Also, I believe SG's are a sexlinked cross (distinct color differences between males and females) so no need to worry about gender - she's a she!

I just double checked and Sapphire Gems do have yellow bottoms! So that's what she should be.
i just spent several minutes researching this and that’s exactly what she lines up with being!!!
it’s so odd because they aren’t even offering that breed of chick where i got her!
i snagged her from that bin because i saw she was a smidge lighter from the others and i was certain she wasn’t as advertised!
i’m thrilled!
thank you so much for helping me!!!

she’s such a sweet chick!
she’s by far the sweetest one i’ve raised so far!
i had minimal knowledge of Sapphire Gems and i never know they were sexlinked!
thank you, again!

Its not uncommon for mix ups to happen with chick breeds at feed stores, haha. 😆
Glad I could help!
