Mystery egg color...

Our first eggs and a bit of a mystery. The laying ladies are sapphire splash, barred rock, hampbar, and sapphire gems. SOMEONE is laying beautiful tan speckled eggs with dark brown spots. Any idea who it would be? The ones today were even darker tan with more speckles (not pictured) It's consistent... Whomever it is is laying them daily....

It could possibly be your Barred Rock. And some chickens just end up with speckles on their eggs even if it isn't in the breed description. My Speckled Sussex and Black Copper Marans do it, some more than others.

That's what we were thinking.... if she lays again today I'll post a photo! I just haven't busted her in the box yet so that's where the uncertainty came from.

Well.... I caught the barred rock laying. Not her! Her egg is the larger one. One of the hampbars was in a box.... we'll update later!
