Well, we went to see the puppies yesterday, drove 8 hours round trip...
The place was a MESS! Trash, cars, and junk everywhere! She wouldn't' let us meet the dam, because apparently, she's dog aggressive. That would have been nice to know BEFORE we payed you a deposit! And, neither parents are registered with there Eyes, hips, and elbows, either! That means the puppies aren't eligible to breed or show, (Which we aren't interested in showing but possibly breeding,) and we are totally ebbing mislead. We aren't paying $2,400 for a dog, who's parents aren't eyes, hips, and elbows checked, mom is dog aggressive, and aren't eligible to breed! As for the puppies, we fell in love with Teal Collar! SO cute! We loved her! In fact, we are probably gonna name the puppy we get from another breeder Teal! Haha! It was a great learning experience, but we are gonna ask WAY more questions, and ALL of that next time! Really disappointed.
Oh my!
Sorry it didnt work out.
When looking for a Yorkie breeder we came across one with super cute parents who were obviously spoiled, but the breeder has no idea what they were doing and the puppies didn't have any paper work.
So, you're looking to get one from another breeder now?
For that price I would just look from the AKC market place. I checked to see about what price a female would be in your state. I saw some that were less that that even.
Where did you find this breeder from?

That just sucks!
My mother and grandmother bred and raised Akita's for around 15
years, so they have experience!

First of all, just because their hips, eyes, and elbows weren't checked, that doesn't mean you can't breed them. Second, if the parents are AKC registered, the puppies can be registered, but you should make sure that whoever you buy from next, gives you the AKC registration papers. And after you get those, it is up to your parents to pay the fee and submit the papers to AKC to have the pup registered.

Oh, and good luck getting the deposit back....
And definitely ask many questions, make sure that you can visit the property and the dogs.
Best of luck!

Look for a breeder who has a nice bitch, not just one who used a nice stud. Anyone can buy semen, and it doesn't look like their bitch is breeding quality. Just compare how she looks to how the stud looks.

And like you've learned, those health tests are super important for making sure that your puppy will be healthy in as much of a way as possible. I'm so sorry that this experience happened to you, but I'm also glad you walked away. As a breeder myself, the situation sounds terrible. I'd never breed a dog aggressive bitch, any dog who wasn't health tested, or raise my dogs in filth/junk. =(

No, they said clearly, that they can't be bred because the parents only have "limited AKC papers", and then that is the same with the question. Its because since there full paperwork isn't done yet, then they don't have the cereal number that give the puppies full AKC papers, or at least that is what it sounded. Like. Plus, if the parents don't have everything checked, it gives the puppies the risk of having bad Hips, eye, hearth and elbow issues. It is a totally bummer.

"limited" means the paperwork has been done, but they did NOT get permission from the breeder/s of their dogs to breed them. Basically they are breaking the rules/stealing/breaking contract. Limited means that the dog was sold as a pet only, never allowed to be bred. It seems like this "breeder" has been lying to you at every turn. Such a bummer. :(

Well, we figured this out. Its so annoying! These are all things we really would have liked to know BEFORE we drove 8 hours to see puppies with an aggressive mom! They also said that if we would have asked to see the mom, they would have brought there out before hand. Isn't it just common sense that we want to see the mom when we come see the puppies??

I just contacted every breeder I saw a website for. We looked all over the page before umping in, and not anywhere did it say that they didn't have all of there health checks done. SO frustrating!
