Blue/Splash - When a chicken has one 'blue' gene it is blue colored, when it has two 'blue' genes it becomes splash. Blue (B/b) bred to Blue (B/b) equals: 1/4 Slash (B/B) 1/2 Blue (B/b) and 1/4 Black (b/b)
Some recessive colors are Lavender, Chocolate, Mottling. Some genes such as barring are sex-linked. A male black rooster bred to barred (B/) hen equals = 1/2 Barred Males (B/b+) [Single Factor] and 1/2 Black Females
Combs like Pea and Rose are dominant. When a single combed chicken (s/s) breeds to a Peacoomb (P/P) chicken , all of the offspring have peacombs (P/s).
Beards and Crests are dominant. When a crested or beared chicken breeds to a chicken with none of those characteristics the offsping will have 'little' beards or crests. (MB/mb) or (CR/cr).
Silkieness is recessive. Feathered legs are dominant. There is a difference between vulture hocks and feathered feet.
Thanks
Wow, I wasn't expecting such a quick reply from this site! You guys are great.
Right now I am working on getting the forums and bug reporting stuff working before I turn to the chickens. They're going to be the hard part, and I'll need a way to hear about all the bugs happening with them and to hear suggestions (hence the forums) .
Okay, so I've begin to decide which values each chicken should have. Most the things related to the standard will be on a sliding scale, with a specific value for each chicken (for example, a breed that calls for a medium back might want 50% length. A chicken with 45% length would be too short, 55% too long, their offspring would be somewhere in between).
Am I missing anything to describe these chickens or do I have anything that doesnt make sense?)
Yes, that will be an integral part of this game. Selling birds (& hatching eggs) to other players, and finding birds to buy that will improve your flock.
