Poo pics blood? Or maybe something else?

Direct dose? I was only told to put it in their water.

I was going to wait until after the storm and divide them up a bit I have 3 different pens but the other 2 are too small to keep them in all day.

Then the babies wouldn't be kept away from the water.

My waterers are the 18 liter jugs for a water dispenser that have been stuck in a 5 gallon bucket and I would rather use something else for medicated water.
When they are pooping blood you do not want to wait to start treating them.
Damage is being done to their intestines. The sooner you treat the better chance you have of saving them and preventing irreversible damage.

Often when a bird is really going down fast, with corid, it is recommended to give a few drops directly into the mouth. But it's ok to just put it into the water, per directions. Don't wait to divide them up, it won't hurt your older birds at all. Use whatever waterer you have, it won't cause any problems there either.
oh, what i meant was I have 20 week olds in there too and the younger ones who need it get chased away from the water. also week ones dose is different from week 2 and 3 they don't go through a whole 18L in 1 week so I'd rather not waste the medicine. It's only 1 day and the babies seem fine health wise.

Thanks for clarifying The direct dose, I wouldn't have known that was possible.

That's interesting. Corid is a 5 day treatment, same dose each day. Is what you got amprolium? Coccidiosis can kill quickly, I wouldn't wait if it were me. Especially with the stress of a storm on top. I get it that there are probably a lot of other things for you to do right now, however. Good luck, hope Dorian doesn't beat you up too much.

Well the picture refuses to upload...

It is Amprolium, but it's also amprol? It says 2.5ml per 1L for 5 - 7 days, and .62ml per 1L for following 14 days.

Well, the point is to reduce the load of coccidia to allow the chickens to build up natural immunity. I'm guessing that the idea behind the tapered dose is to give more time to build immunity? IDK, just guessing, I haven't heard of tapering it before. I'd follow directions.

You really are supposed to give Corid the same way. A higher dose for the first week and a lower dose for the second week but most people don't do it.

If you do a quick search for articles by @casportpony ... You'll see she has the Corid instructions in one of her articles

I considered ordering it off the internet, I'll have to look next time before I drive all the way into town.

The shipping took at least a week or so, not fast enough when they’re already sick. But I definitely recommend getting your hands on some meds to keep in a chicken first aid kit. Heaven knows when something goes wrong it will be on a holiday, or when the only poultry vet around is on holidays.
