hi all, im back again with my problem duck Reptar.. poor girl never seems to be able to stay out of trouble. today upon being released for free range, she was noticeably less busy than she usually is in the morning. she got to her pool and was looking unusually puffy, eyes a bit squinted and her body shivering. i removed her from the pool and brought her into the shed underneath a heat lamp to warm up and then returned to their coop to inspect and found a partially developed egg shell membrane with blood. i can't say for sure it was Reptar since we have about 7 new layers all beginning to pop out eggs, including her, but i worry about egg binding. she is currently stable enough to forage with her sisters and seems to have improved a bit since earlier but is still a bit lethargic. the only vet who sees poultry in our area is unfortunately closed til December so i will keep her under observation.. is there any other steps i can take to help improve her situation? any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

Can you feel around her vent and abdomen to see if there's an egg there? Does her vent protrude? Is she walking with her tail down?

Are you giving them supplemental calcium (crushed oyster shells)?

i found no tenderness or abnormalities around her abdomen/vent, and thankfully her symptoms seemed to resolve about two hours after initially presenting with them. i typically offer crushed egg shells to the girls but i will switch to oyster shells as their egg production winds down for the winter; it seems oyster shell may also offer better bioavailability. thank you kindly for your reply, i will update if anything changes :)
