Hi, I hatched 11 runner ducks but have noticed an odd duckling out. It gets pushed aside during feeding. It walks much slower than the rest of the flock and it doesn't like to follow me. It's scared of both me and the other ducks and because of that, it has niacin deficiency due to not being able to compete with its brothers/sisters. I've taken it aside to feed and take care of it for now.

It's coloration is unique and resembles a Welsh harlequin.

Do you think that this is a runner or a Welsh? Is it a female based on these colors?

Is this a male Welsh on the right? Or just some dusty coloration?

Thank you, I'm new to raising ducks.

Runners come in a variety of colors so it could be one. Does it have the stance for a runner or is its body low to the ground? I believe the coloring is called dusky and/or snowy. I wouldn't say it looks male yet.

Oh it still stands up or at least 75-80°up. Yes it's a snowy coloration. Ah, dusky is the term!

Well Welsh comes from khakis and khakis come from runners. So it would all make sense.

I am not helpful, but I wanted to say that your ducks are beautiful. Youre obviously doing something right. I had ducks previously and I do miss them.

Thank you. I'm completely a newbie. Just started with birds this year. Previously a cat person for close to 20 years.

I will post pictures of my flock somewhere.
