Pullet or cockerel?

This chick is about 5 weeks old. Father is a silkie/cochin mix but unsure of the mother. Really hoping it is a female but knowing my luck..
Thoughts? Too early to tell?

Doesn't necessarily scream cockerel to me, I'm gonna wait before saying anything for sure, but you may have a pullet ;D

I hope you are right. At what age do you think I can be more certain? His or her comb is very small, and pink, but that may be a breed thing?

I would wait another 2 months or so.

Anything that makes you think boy? It acts like a roo sometimes (often comes out with the other roos when I walk in). It doesn’t have the super obvious roo look that the other ones have though, so I’m stumped. I know it is early but a couple are just so clearly boys and this one isnt.

Oh ok. Didn’t seem as red as the others, was more a pale pink, but I wasn’t sure if this breed just had a smaller paler comb. All of my chicks are different breeds so I can’t really compare them. Thanks for the reply!

I REALLY hope you are right. I can only keep one roo and I think I’ve picked him out already I think. I really like this one too and it would be hard to choose between the two if it came to that!
