QQ- Do roosters have a way of sensing gender?

heck yeah I can - this is the youngest, unbearded silkie. He whips out all the dance moves for this little fella.

Huh, I don't see any early indicators of it being a cockerel. Definitely update as it matures!! I'm quite curious

I would say that even as chicks they know each others gender. My current flock master was an obvious cockeral at hatch. He had two hatch mates. At about two weeks old he started being so aggressive towards one chick it would hide in the hay bales instead of following mom. He never bothered the other chick. The one he chased was a cockeral the other, a pullet. I will mention that he grew out of the aggressive stage early on and is now a great leader. He does have a few roosters in his flock that are older than he is, but he out ranked them when he moved in to that coop.
