Should I use the permethrin spray? I could make a solution with the permethrin 13.3 I have. I saw lots of maggots at first but when I was done, I saw a couple. Initially I only sprayed her w Spurr, but went back after 30 mins or so and sprayed the vetericyn also and noticed a few more maggots. The maggots seem deep so that's my concern. Flies won't be able to lay anymore eggs but I need to get rid of all the maggots in order for her to be ok, right? You might need several treatments to get all of them. Letting her sit in warm water will drown them. You can use a syringe (not with a needle, just a syringe) to squirt diluted (NOT full strength) Betadine or saline to flush out the ones still in the wounds. At my grocery store I was able to buy a can of saline "wound cleanser" that sprays and I found it really useful cleaning out a deep injury.
I'd be airing on the side of using gentler products (like saline) because you don't want to put things on her that would make her wounds worse or cause her pain. Saline is probably the most "neutral" feeling thing. Even dilute Betadine can sting a bit.
Tomorrow after she has had rest, you can do another gentle bath in warm water. Obviously keep offering her food and water. I think you're right to swap out the container she is in on the chance that there were any maggots in the old one.
I hope she has a good night and that you also get a good night's sleep, given all the drama of the week so far. Sounds like you're giving her lots of love!
She is a fighter tho.....I'm wetting down her normal feed and will give her that before I go to bed. I do not think she ate any of the scrambled eggs I provided and I got some tiny ants so I put that outside.
she has another box....cardboard so I can just toss.
