My 6 week old peachick has been totally fine until this evening it started pooping very frequently and runny. It is not a cecal poo — just very watery, with no foul smell. My peachick eats medicated chick feed and drinks water with added probiotics and electrolytes. It has never been outdoors and never had any contact with other birds. Its behavior so far seems normal, except for the runny poo. Can anyone tell me whether I should do anything about it? Many thanks.

Does it have any normal droppings as well or are they all like that? Has it been very hot where you are? Have you given it any treats or anything else to eat other than the chick feed? Has anything caused it to be stressed?

No heat (the peacock is indoors, with the air conditioning but has a heat plate in its pen) and no unusual treats. All I feed it as treats these days is some moistened game bird feed, which is higher in protein than the medicated chick feed (I had bought a big bag when I didn’t realize chick feed was considered best). However, the peacock could indeed have gotten stressed because the lights were on for a good portion of the time late last night, in the room where it sleeps. This doesn’t normally happen, and I took it out of the pen when it started calling for me — that was when the diarrhea-type poop happened. I will observe the droppings this morning to see if there are also some normal ones. Thank you so much for your feedback! 🙏🏼
