Today I found that my female duck played her very first egg today. I have two ducks- a Female Pekin and a Male Aylesbury. Does anyone have any topics for science fair with variables I could do. I was thinking maybe doing breeding with Pekin and aylesbury. Or testing how different foods affect the eggs (eating) or how it affects eggs hatching. I already recorded weight and color in grams. Please let me know any other projects you have in mind or are similar. Please help

taste is objective but you could do something with the affects of adding specific foods (ie free ranging, access to grass, etc). Then compare the eggs of the free range or access to the grass with those that don't. (summer, winter, kind of thing). Taking pictures will show if there is a color change based on feed.

I googled this and one of the things that came up was observing the effects of music on your ducks.

Watch your ducks for fifteen minutes, several times per day at the same times each day for a week as a control. Then choose three different types of music and play them in their run from morning until evening or 24/7 for one week each, making the same observations at the same times each day. Record your observations. Also pay attention to how much they eat and to egg production. Try some Mozart, some cool jazz, and some rock and roll. Keep the volume the same or as close as you can get, but avoid having loud volume become an unintended variable.

This could be a fun way to get to know your ducks even better and I don't see playing music to be likely to raise any ethical issues regarding their treatment or conditions.

I didn't get an answer must have posted in wrong place. MAMA Daphne is sitting on eggs due to hatch next week. She hatched out 7, 5 survived in August. Will the new ducklings be ok with the older siblings or should I move the older ones??. Daphne's next is in the coop, and everyone goes in at night..

This looks like it may have posted to the wrong thread.
