Those are great pictures of Scout. You do have the prettiest roosters ever. My favorite has to be Suede though, your "big blue turkey". How much does Suede weigh? Do you show him?

Actually, I really don't know what he weighs now. I'll have to figure out a good way to do that. I think the last time I weighed him a couple of months ago, he was around 10 lbs., but I'm sure he's larger now.
I don't show any of my birds, not even my big blue sweetie. He might not do that well anyway because he has a couple of minor faults that would get him some points knocked off, I think. Velvet is actually a better example of the breed than Suede, believe it or not. Still, he's a star here at our little Chicken Asylum.

Thanks, Christina. I have no interest in showing at all, but even if I did, there are no local shows around here. If there were, I'd sure go to some!
I have familiarized myself with the standards for the Blue Orps and I try to check mine against the standard. For instance, I know that Suede's eyes are too light colored. Im not worried about that too much because my girls' eyes are very dark brown like they should be and I figure they will make up for that in their chicks.

The girl I have, I think is beautiful from Velvet and Suede. Im going to try to show her as a pullet in the spring.

That's wonderful! I'd love to see a picture of her now that she's grown some. Suede does produce some pretty babies both with Skye and Velvet. I'm very attached to the big guy!
