Hello! Anyone working on projects for the holidays? I am working on some doll outfits as gifts, and attempting to copy April Cornell's Avonlea dress (twice) , with a few adjustments. A tad complicated without a pattern, but the design is pretty loose and forgiving. Plus, someone gifted me a lot of that exact fabric, and I'd had my eye on this dress for a while. The plan is to make the sleeves full long sleeves and shorten the skirt a tad, for one, and remove the neckline ruffle and replace with a boat neck for the second.
That’s a nice dress!

Yes, I’ll be (hopefully) making my sister a dress for Christmas. I’m waiting for the pattern to arrive in the mail.

Then I have to make myself something nice to wear.

I also want to make my mom a house robe and my sister another dress for presents. Just waiting to go to Joanne Fabrics on Tuesday!

How do y’all organize your sewing supplies (fabric especially)?

I’m being relegated to the soon-to-be-finished basement and it’s a chance to create a dedicated sewing space.

For the last few years I kept everything in bins in the linen closet, but it got messy quickly.

Any ideas are welcome, thanks in advance :)!

I personally have a book case and fold the fabric and place it on it in categories. That way I can see everything that I have, I also do it with my yarn and seems to stay fairly neat lol

I like that, except my sister sews doll clothes so I have all these little pieces (like fat quarters) hanging around. I suppose I could keep them in a bin on the bookshelf…

My sister does that and organizes it by each bin has a different color... she is a fabric scrap hoarder lol

I have a vintage wood and metal trunk that I put my fabric and patterns and such in. I generally organize in terms of use, fabric I always reach for on top, special occasion fabrics and such at the bottom.

I am currently working on a tiered skirt in this lovely autumn floral cotton, and have just completed a matching vest to go with it. I used my button hole foot for the first time and it came out wonderfully. I want to make more vests after my skirt and am thinking of doing it in my leftover navy, olive green, and jean color fabric I have in my stash.
