I have 4 bielefelder shipped saddle air cells, I candled before lockdown and saw movement. They have been on their sides with largest air cell facing up in a forced air Hovabator. I regret now on day 20 not placing them upright to prevent drowning.

Typically on day 20 I see eggs moving or hear them but I don’t have neither on these 4. I may have really screwed this batch. Is there anything I can do at this point? Temp and Humidity are currently 100 degrees and 65% humidity steady.

I have a few shipped eggs with a saddle on air cell. They are on day 17. I did keep them still for the first few days, and the air cell is saddled but solid.

I gave them an early lockdown. day 17. The eggs below light ones are the shipped eggs, the rest are my hens eggs. (dark ones.) I have them on rope, so as they hatch they will not roll about.

As far as your shipped eggs, wait and see, and don't keep checking them. Good luck!

Not sure if I made the right choice. On day 20 I checked for pipping and nothing so I put eggs slanting in upright position in open bottom egg carton. I should have candled but didn’t. Could they have drowned between day 18 when I saw movement through now?

Do you have a pre-calibrated analog thermometer and hygrometer in your incubator or are you solely using the onboard instruments? If you are relying on the incubators thermometer they are often innacurate and can cause delayed hatches. I would definitely leave them be for a few more days and see what happens.

I also need to clarify when putting eggs in incubator morning of November 5th 10:00 am is that considered day 1 or do you count the next day as day 1?

Yes, I have both pre-calibrated thermometer and hygrometer. They have been steady during lockdown in my Hovabator forced air. Temp 100.1 and humidity is 65%. These were mail order eggs. I thought I’d give them a try, but I’m getting discouraged when I don’t hear or see movement. Do you think I should candle them now?

I also wanted to mention that on Day 18 I saw movement in all 4

I never use hearing peeping or seeing movement from eggs inside of the incubator as a gauge to whether they are alive or not. Some eggs you won't hear much noise from if any and they don't move while others look like they're having a party in there. If you placed them at 10 Am on the 5th you are barely over 20 days. I personally would just leave them be since they are technically not even late yet to pip. You could still very well end up with pips by the end up the day and hatched chicks overnight/morning which would still be on time.

Thank you! That’s reassuring to know. As I’m reading this I just heard a peep! and one has already pipped.
Thanks again!

Just wanted to give a progress results day 21. Of the 4 eggs 3 hatched last eve.
However the 4th has not begin to pip yet. I candled it and it shows only heart rate movement. How long do I wait before assisting?
