Hi. It has come to my attention that you legally(?) can't ship eggs without NPIP certification (or vet papers/equivalent?).
I have been shipping eggs WITHOUT NPIP through UPS for ages now. I did not know you had to be NPIP for eggs, I thought that was only for shipping chicks/birds.
I sent a package of eggs out through USPS, 2 day shipping, and they have been stuck at the major facility for 4 days now. I assume it's because they're not permitted, but I don't know. I wrote "hatching eggs" on the box because I wanted USPS to know to be careful.
Now I am worried that I am going to get in trouble with USPS.
I'm just curious if anyone has made this amateur mistake, and if so, how did it turn out? I am internally freaking out because I don't want to get in trouble. If I had known you can't ship eggs, I wouldn't have done it. What are the consequences? Does anyone have any insight on this?
I don't know if this is truly the reason why they haven't moved to the next facility, I am just assuming due to the research I did today about eggs in transit.
Also, does this mean most of the eggs on Ebay are being shipped illegally?
Thanks 😩

There are loopholes for eggs, & birds. Eating eggs, & meat birds don't require it🤫.

I'm sure you're fine and it has nothing to do with them being eggs.
I buy stuff off ebay that ships USPS and lately everything is arriving late. And that is why, my packages have been sitting at major hubs for several days for some reason.
FYI I've heard of egg sellers saying they won't write anything like "hatching eggs" or "fragile" on boxes because when they have they end up getting damaged more often then unmarked packages. Idk if it's true or not but maybe skip writing eggs on yours for that reason.

Same. I Have had several packages arrive much later than they were supposed to over the last couple weeks
