Edit:
I agree with everyone about not taking any chances. It's supposed to be in the low 80s tomorrow so I'm sure it'll finish curing in the sun. For tonight, I found a large plastic tote and set that up for them. It should be fine for overnight. Thanks for all the input!

Hello all. I've raised chickens before but got caught unaware's this time so my Brooder wasn't quite ready. There's a silicone component to the brooder and it still off-gassing. Is that harmful to baby chicks?

If it's still off gassing it's not dry.

What kind of silicone and on what kind of surface?
Cure time on container?
The silicone was used Shore up the edges Of hardware cloth a top plastic. 100% silicone. It would not be in contact with the birds because it's on the top on the outside.

Can you do a makeshift brooder from a giant box like melons come in?

I would say if it's off gassing they shouldn't be in there.
That's my concern. I suppose I can probably try to find something around here before it gets cool tonight. Wasn't expecting them this early so I thought I had time to fix up the brooder.
