Silkie, male or female?

This Silkie is a pullet. If it were a cockeral he would have the hackles feathers started by now.

I’m not disagreeing with you, you might be totally right.

However my rooster looked a LOT like that at that age, and didn’t really start to develop his streamers until about 4 months or so.

I also have a hen who has a spiked crest, who most certainly lays eggs! Lol!

Sometimes it can be really tricky to tell with silkies, and a lot of time it depends on the breeding. His/her stance is more what makes me lean toward roo though.

But, we can’t see his/her comb real well either.

You have a good point. Silkies can be hard to tell till about 4 months.
 
Silkies are extremely difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not till they crow or lay. Hatchery bred silkies can look much different than breeder quality.

We need the money shot - Bird facing forward with crest held or pulled back, to display ENTIRE extent of comb.

I am thinking rooster, anyone else want to guess? He is 3-4 months old
