Hello! I have one chick I don't know the type or origin of, having acquired it from my family member who brought it home from the street.

We have never cared for chicks or chickens before, and it seems like there's a million and five ways for them to die. Please help šŸ™

Attached is a picture of where we are currently keeping it, the makeshift heat lamp is 100W, hastily bought. The temperature in my area averages 27 celcius, up to 33 celcius.

The bulb is usually only on when it gets loud as it's awake, as the electricity price can build up.

We just feed it cooked rice and water for now, everything here is a temporary arrangement until we either are able to give it to someone more capable to take care of it, or can purchase better materials to care for it.

For now, I'd like to just eliminate any possible fatal hazards.

The main thing I would watch out for is making sure itā€™s not too hot, anything above 40 degrees celcius is much too hot
Rice wonā€™t really have enough nutrition and it could cause problems, I would feed it mushed up cooked egg yolks if you have it
Watch out for panting, which means itā€™s too hot, huddling and loud peeping means too cold
Also watch for poop caked on its butt, if you see this use a warm cloth to gently rub it off, if you leave it there the chick can die
Best of luck

Oh and to make the chick less lonely you could put a mirror in the brooder, it will think itā€™s another chick, you can also put a fluffy toy or something similar for it to snuggle with
