Straub’s search for colored eggs

I lowered the feeder and one of the drinkers to chick level and closed the door to the grow out pin. Smoky took the babies into the big coop and they are going to sleep for the night. This will make things a lot easier now that they are in the coop with the automatic door and eating and drinking from the same place as the rest of the flock.

I removed one more egg leaving 14 eggs going into lockdown. The one that came out was clear and showed no signs of any development when I cracked it open. I’m not sure how I missed it on the day 10 candling. I guess I was just hanging on to false hope.

6 of these chicks are going to a friend of my wife’s who is looking to get back into chickens. The rest will go to Jersey Gena who has been. Sitting on golf balls for about 2 weeks. Still debating on doing another round this spring.

Day 19 of incubation and I believe I just heard a chirp. The incubator is in the corner of the living room and there is a window between it and me so maybe it was an outside bird but it got me to jump up and look for pips. No external pips found at this time.
