The AMERAUCANA thread

Would you consider selling any of the pullets or will you have chicks/hatching eggs next spring?
I'm not NPIP certified yet, and not sure if it'll happen soon because of how hectic life gets, so I don't think I could even ship eggs out of state. I'm also going to be trying to rebuild my flock for a while because I lost a ton of birds to life stuff so I don't know if I'll have eggs or chicks to even sell in the spring.

The only hatchery that I have used seams to be pretty good. My Ameraucanas come from Cackle and I've been told through evaluation they will be a good start. Cackle actually supported the Ohio national and showed some of their birds there.

Cackle is the one hatchery that I've not dealt with... I meant to go back & list which hatcheries I've had birds from.

I'm thrilled that they supported the OH National Show. One day I'd really like to get there.

Red Roof Hens in NC has a bantam line of BBS Ameraucanas and some other project colors. I have some of her BBS and while they’re not perfect, they’re healthy and great temperament and a great starting point. Some of her line and their sons I mixed with another line I have. :)

Thank you!! I just spent some time on their site & then downloaded their app, so I can go back...

They actually aren't too far from us. I don't remember seeing them in the breeder directories of either Ameraucana group. There's another that used to be closer (Apex/Holly Springs), I had plans on getting some chicks from him, but hadn't gotten back up w/ him after being out of state for 4 months, getting covid & still dealing w/ family stuff...

We are between Southern Pines & Sanford - south & west of Raleigh.
