The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Speaking of isabellas, how come it seems none of those problems crop up in the other breeds that have the color established. Is it something just with in leghorns? Or do they just not talk about it?

No.
The wing patch issue is because of autosomal red or whatever it is that puts the red in the shoulders of the duckwing males.
Think of the red that EEs get on the shoulders that screams male. Any pattern that has that would have the issue. It's just that duckwing is the pattern that leghorns come in with it.
Shredder gene is associated with the lavender gene so any birds with lavender either has the shredding issue or did in the past.
I raised porcelain D'Uccles years and years ago and never seen that's what convinced me the link could be broken and it could be bred out. I assumed since that variety of that bread had been around so long that they're not plenty of time to breed away from it.
Isabels got their lavender gene from lavender orpingtons. If you knew them when they first come out and actually even still today you'll know the shredder chain is still rampant with them.
I think a lot of people think it's just something that's going to be there because it's so common that they don't mess with trying to get rid of it. It's not easy to get rid of so that probably has something to do with it also.

I've had good and bad in lavender Ameraucanas. So they are getting there with the shredder gene.

Noted in other genetic forms the shredder gene talk says it can be passed to other colors.

I've not seen talk of the patching unless that's a shredder gene issue and they just aren't specifying.

So true. 🤣

Hey you probably go through a little feed there. What do you do with or how do you keep up on getting rid of empty bags?
I burn most of my trash. This last winter was cooooold so I wasn't to worried about getting those burned at the time. I was just throwing them in a pile in an out of the way corner of the barn.
Of course now that pile is about the size of my truck :lau.
I'll get them burned in stages but sure seems like it's gonna be too much like work. This isn't the first time so I'm just curious.
We burn any of our garbage that is cardboard or paper, like boxes, mail, etc. My husband burns about once a week. Also we use the empty white feed sacs that whole corn comes in as table liners when we butcher chickens and turkeys. We feed a little extra corn in our feed mix in the winter, but not so much in the summer. My husband uses the brown feed sacks the conditioning feed and pellets come in as garbage bags some and we put skin, feathers, etc in when we butcher and he puts it down for trash pickup. lol Otherwise he burns them all weekly. We have a burn barrel he burns in.

My Brown Leghorn eggs came in @The Moonshiner. They came on the expected date and took 3 days via USPS so we must not have the same USPS issues as other areas. They came from WV.

Let’s try this again. I will rest them tonight and set them in the morning when I get home from work.

My blank TB keys are sitting in KC. There would of been no issue getting them to my post office this morning in time to be delivered today. Now it'll be Monday and at least Wednesday before I can get them cut.
