The Old Folks Home

That is good news! Chickens can often recover well from injuries and illness.
Thanks Ron. Good news indeed. Little Joker is 90% better this morning. I greased him up with antibiotic ointment for the last time. The swelling is down around his affected eye today also and he is eating like a little moose.

My success rate with sick/injured birds isn't the best for some reason. Maybe the Marek's factor? But Joker has been a much loved little bantam his whole life and I'm not ashamed to say that I did a lot of praying (and begging) over him while he set on my lap and let me hot pack his eye and treat his wounds/break outs. He was a pretty sick little bird for about a week.

I'm hoping to be able to get him back out with the flock soon, maybe give him a 'room' of his own with a few older roosters to keep him company. My original three SDW bantam roosters are 7 years old now so maybe them. Right now I'm waiting for the rest of the swelling to go down in his right eye. He only has partial vision in his left eye due to another pecking injury.

I remember the Mareks battle! That one can be rough.

Luckily I have not had but one mareks death here.

It actually got up to 50 here today. Of course tomorrow it's only going to be 28 but I did see a bunch of temps in the high 40s/low 50s down the line so maybe November temps in Dec since we had Dec temps in Nov?

Mother nature can be such a witch child when she sets her mind to it.

Our tv in our family room decided to go on the blitz. After two and a half days of searching for a replacement on line we chose a 58 inch Hisense Roku tv with the idea of replacing our 50 inch in the living room with the bigger set and moving the smaller to the family room.

Got it today. I swear you have to have a PhD in software engineering to program one of these monsters. Am I showing my age? Unfortunately, yeah. Told DH that we needed to out to the road, find the dumbest little, electronics challenged Amish kid, drag them inside and have them set the silly thing up. They would probably do a better and faster job than we are doing.

I imagine I will have to contact customer service before all is said and done as we can't get it to save the programming for local antenna channels.

Remember when we had 3 stations to choose from and had to get up off the sofa to change the channel?

Ah for the good old days.

What do you do with the old TVs now adays? Throw them in the dumpster or is that frowned upon?

IDK. We don't. We are hanging on to the old defunct one for the time being. It's not wanting to turn on so we just put it in park mode and left it on until today. What will probably happen to it is DH will strip out the electronics and we will use the resistors, transistors, capacitors, etc for repairs and projects.

You ain't lived till you've disordered electronic components from a board.......:th:he
