Things you wish you could say

The ice dispenser is the problem right now. It just wants to stay open and empty out all the ice out on the floor. But Mrs MGyver (that would be me) folded a blue Scotch-Brite pad in half and stuck it behind the little gate, propping it in the Closed position. You just have to remove it to get ice and then quickly jam it back in place when you have enough. Royal pain, that is, but it works for now. My guess is it needs a new spring. Or something. Fridge is about three years old and needs serviced on the regular. :duc:mad: Usually the guy that comes out fixes it worse and someone else has to come out and undo what he did. Very entertaining.
Have had my fridge I bought from Sears for over 22yr now. Never had it serviced. Will bawl like a baby when it does croak.

Need a new washing machine but the new ones all have stupid computers to balance the load etc. dumbest idea ever. Even this washer has to balance the load - takes 90 min to do a wash rinse spin! 90 min!! The old one did a load in 20 min, didn’t take me all day to do a few loads of laundry. Sheesh!

Check out Speed Queen washers if you can afford them. They are pricey but I think you can still find some without as many bells and whistles and while I’ve never timed my machine, I’ve had it almost a decade already without all those silly electronic components going bad constantly. ….. speaking of which,

I wish I could say: they are making plastic appliances that barely last a few years now and the few you even could repair when they break are so costly to do so you might as well just purchase a new one, but plastic STRAWS are what is destroying the environment???

Straws end up in the ocean by the bazillions. Washers, not so much.
And appliances end up in landfills. I just figure with things not lasting like they used to anymore, the total volume of non degradable plastic has got to be comparable. I miss the idea of having to only buy one or two appliances in your lifetime. I would also love to stop at the grocery store and not see literally everything packaged in plastic.
