This chicken is not dead

This pullet is very fond of sunbathing. You can almost see her smiling here

I have to tell you all this sweet story.
I have mereks in my flock and I've lost a lot of chickens over the last 3 years. Its a closed flock now and I haven't allowed my hens to hatch anymore babies. I've also kept all my roosters.
Elmer, one of my bantam roosters, has been alone since his 3 brother died. He has a coop within the large coop seperated by a hardware cloth door and a seperate run all his own. A couple of days ago I didn't close his door well and Hattie, a cochin frizzle, went inside and laid an egg and stayed. They seem to be a happy couple. Elmer has been such a sweet gentleman with her. I think its love. ❤️
Here are Elmer and Hattie in their honeymoon run.

How wonderful ❤️

Why are her wing feathers like that? Looks scary!
It's from the Frizzle gene. Betty's would do that as well. They would start out mostly complete and then as the year went on, she would wind up with talons as they "wore out".

You can see her talons starting to come out at this point.
