Hatched 2/10, this clutch of barnyard mixes was set to test our new incubator. The males are destined for freezer camp this summer/fall, but we are considering keeping one of the pullets to bring the garage flock back up to 6. Join us as we watch them grow and guess at breeds and genders! Possible breeds in the parent flock include RIR, ISA Browns, Easter Egger, Marans, Wyandotte, Australorp, Orpington, Sussex, Plymouth Rock, Silkies, and Brahma.
First to hatch Bumble Bee. Hatched from a brown egg, single comb, guessing probably an Australorp mix.
Second to hatch, Apollo. Love the eyeliner! Hatched from a green egg with an impressive beard, clearly an easter egger.
Third to hatch is Rose. Blue chick with a red head, hatched from an olive(?) egg. Initially thought it was a tan egg, but the inside is definitely blue.
Fourth to hatch is Cherry. Look at those fluffy cheeks! Hatched from a green egg, looks kinda like a wyandotte cross.
Fifth to hatch is Sungold, hatched from a brown egg. You can't see it in this picture, but this was the only chick to hatch with lighly feathered legs. Looks to have maybe a rose or pea comb. Possibly BCM mix. For no particular reason this one is giving me cockerel vibes.
The last two hatched overnight while we were sleeping so no telling for sure who hatched last or which egg they hatched from. Because this one has an obvious chipmunk pattern we're guessing it was from the green egg. Anne looks like she's going to be a very pretty dilute. Really hoping this one's a pullet, kinda want to keep her.
Which leaves this little buff beauty, Cherokee. Has a faint chipmunk pattern, maybe hatched from a brown egg.
