Yes they get streamers at a later date. I just know during my time breeding these guys, that the length of the head feathers and the stance of the bird at this age was more reliable than comb or other tricks people use too tell. Not 100% obviously. Just little things I noticed. Both look like pullets to me so far.
I guess in some cases...
My only cockerel last season didn’t have much of a crest at all.
I thought that the ‘longer messier head feathers’ were streamers, which come in later.
Honestly though, it’s too early for me to know 100%. Silkies take a while to tell, usually.
Streamers don’t come in till then yes. Just in my experience the length of the crest feathers and the stance of the bird were the most reliable method for sexing at this age. Not 100% obviously. Just my own experience.Crest feathers at this age isn't reliable for sexing. Streamers don't start coming in until between 4-6 months of age.
Super cute!!! I love silkies so much I’m interested in how mine will turn out! Right now they are so similar I’m wondering if they are both pullets. But I know it can sometimes surprise you!!Still think their pullets also here’s my Girl, SHES also 6 weeks View attachment 3084428
