Understanding Cuckoo Silkies.

Wow, so this brakes the hard way of sexing silkies into an easy way to sex silkies. But in my case my rooster is cuckoo and my hen is black, so would i still get sexlinked chicks?

If I Breed him to a white silkie, could I get pure white silkies and cuckoos too? Or they will only throw blacks and cuckoo chicks?

THANKS FOR THE SPEEDY REPLY!
Sorry, this only works for black (why they are called black sexlinks). There are other types of sex linked genes, but I doubt you could find the right genetics in silkies to make any other sexlinks. If you cross white to cuckoo, you will likely not see any white without extra crosses to get it back. Whie in silkies is recessive white and it covers everything, including black and barring, so it is possible for a white silkie to produce barred chicks if crossed to a black bird, if it is hiding the barring gene.

Thanks! I am looking forward to seeing what they produce!

Cheers!

Does anybody know if I can breed a cukoo silkie to a frizzle? I have looked and looked and cant find the answer
I don't see why you couldn't. Here is someone selling eggs that are cuckoo frizzle so you can see what they may look like.

This thread is 8 yrs old and the OP hasn't been on in years. so if you'd like more answers or have more questions, I would start a new thread just so it gets seen better and would be fresh news!
