Urgent: Need 1000 Muscovy Ducklings

Hi all, I'm desperately seeking 1000 one-week-old Muscovy ducklings. I've contacted several hatcheries with no luck. If anyone has any leads on breeders, farms, or other sources, please let me know. Thanks so much!

What the actual hec do you need 1000 ducks in the middle of winter for?

That would probably require a special order 1 month in advance. Also 1 week old is past prime shipping time so you would be looking at a pickup if day olds are not an option.

You need to give a location for us to help you find a local source.

My freind got a big farm and wants to use the space. He already got his finance figured out and location.
Wouldn’t recommend it now in the middle of the winter even if he gets heaters to keep the temperature constant?

I'm not a muscovy expert but I'm pretty sure they aren't laying right now so day olds are out of the question.

If you are in florida and you cant find a source then i personally would head to your regions pubic bodies of water. I bet some have already stared hatching in the warmer areas

Assuming florida law is anything like it is here in Texas you should be able to get a collection/trapping/hunting permit for pretty darn cheap at your local walmart. You will even be able to get bigger breeds like Egyptian geese for borderline free and the cost of a kayak, net and permit should be under $300 maybe more but at least here thwy are pretty cheap.

That said, I would check craigslist and you local illegal immigrant or "english free" farmers/flea markets before you head to walmart for the permit. Just south of San Antonio you can pick up alot of birds pretty darn fast at these markets.

Depends on the region so in florida I am sure some are laying

Goodness, if it's in Florida go out and trap the feral populations there. You'll get the ducks, and that's 1000 fewer muscovies for Florida to have to waste resources on rounding up and exterminating.

I would wait a month and just place the order for some of the french strain online if you arent gonna bother trapping them. Which you should since they are invasive and it will save thousands of dollars while doing nothing but good.

To clarify only get french if the goal is meat. Get any other variant if the goal is any thing else, they are to violent to be better for much else.
