Vegetable Soup Hatch-a-long eggs are here!

I think the last 3 are on day 18. I set June 14 so you start to count on June 15 so 15 days till the 30th, +3 days to today 18 days. I still don't feel bad about the safety holes. They do that at hatcheries even day 18, but some times it is hard remembering exactly what day unless you put it on the calendar.

I think it is fine if the moisture stays high! The only issue I have ever seen from safety holes is that the membrane dries out sometimes and they get stuck. If the holes are small and humidity is high then it shouldn’t affect anything! Hopefully they will internally pip just fine! I would just keep an eye on them around day 20 to see if they may need a little help or not. Gooo babies!!

I have them in my 2100 FI container, I took out the heater and computer and put in a 15w bulb through the hole with foil and it has been holding 100 degree but they are not directly under bulb.

I have the other incubator from my friend. I thought it was going to be a LG with fan, and turner, she gave me a FI 2450 with fan and no turner- she could not find it. It is not what I expected, I am heating it up but at this point I trust the 15 w bulb better- plus I have made home made incubators in the past using this method.

The 3 shipped eggs are on day 19. Through the safety hole, the membrane looks moist, and plyable, payable, or hard and I can still see healthy fat red veins and smooth shifting under the membrane on Barley, Kale, and red fat veins for tomato as well. I could see Kales beak in the aircell. Since they were so small I was going to guess an early hatch, but seeing them today I would guess day 20 will hatch.

The eggs are doing well in the homemade incubator so I will leave them there.

The most recent incubator FI2450 is running with a separate thermometer and seems trustworthy.

Come on babies!!!! Hopefully we see some pipping soon! Since you saw Kale had internally pipped, that is great news. Hopefully she will pip by tomorrow!

Yes- but since they have had safety holes they don't have to try. i have seen it go fast where they take their time- then suddenly they are out.

The montana chicks (2) are doing well. The NN looks like a girl.

The safety holes were small, this am I made it bigger so I could peek, you can see the bill. And veins, he will be there yet a bit. ( Kale)
