Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I used to make 5 gallon buckets of sauerkraut. Just froze in containers to keep, and I think it may have preserved the probiotics. Can't say I can prove that, though. The trick for that amount is to stir it every day, so the top doesn't get funky. Today I'll be fermenting my sourdough bread in the refrigerator so it gets more sour. Love me some Kim chee. Anyone else?
Never had Kimchee. Not sure what to expect from it.

Loved the great sunny weather today! I got out and cleaned the coop out. Changed out all the straw and added sand and pdz to the poop boards. I'm rather exhausted because this is normally a 2 man job, but DH is sick, so it was just me. Lots of straw to haul out and in!!! The chickens were thrilled, as they always are. Fresh nesting herbs in the nest boxes and the place smells like a garden. 😁

We usually do this once a month, but the weather has been so uncooperative that I think it has been a couple months this time. Big coop and lots of straw, so we got away with it.

I love Kim chi!

Should have gotten 25 female Buff Orpington chicks this week from Murray McMurray. I'd heard last week they didn't ship for a couple days due to the cold weather and were selling chicks for local pickup cheap.
They must have slid everyone who was effected orders out a week. So now my hatch date is Monday. Oh well, gives me another week to work on the new coop and run. Brooder in the garage is ready to go, just waiting.

My grandson picked the last of the carrots from the garden this morning. They taste nice and sweet after being frozen in the ground a few times.

I got 29 tiny leaf lettuce plants set out in the garden and started a new compost pile too.
