Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Canning beans today, as in legumes. I like having my own to make refried beans with when we have tacos. Don't like Rosarita or El Paso. Home canned beans make great refrieds and it's so easy to do.
I just finished what was left of my last quart container of pinto beans this morning. I need to get the pressure cooker out and cook another 4 or 5 cups dry beans.

I might go crazy and cook a mixed batch of black, red kidney, and garbanzo beans. I have the drainings from three pounds of ground beef my son cooked last night to make a bunch of freezer burritos for his lunches. I'll add a little of the beef fat and the beef juice to the beans for flavor.

Sounds good. I only put salt in mine. Simple beans to add to anything and flavor my meals as I go.

Not sure I would like garbanzos mixed with the other two. They are quite different, and at least in my kitchen, used quite differently. But, let me know how it works out.

Good point about the garbanzos. I'll use pinto beans instead since I have 10 or 15 pounds in my pantry.

Made progress on the deer fence today. I'll use wire to make hillbilly hinges on one end of the gate. LOL
I like the way the bean trellis worked out. I won't need a ladder to pick them like I did last year.

Never underestimate hillbilly hinges on gates. I had to do a lot of the dividing and gating of the chicken run divisions while DH was still working. Wire was my friend!!! And big plastic clamps, and zip ties. Inexpensive and quite functional. One of those gates is still used today, and there are a surprising number of big clamps and zip ties in use out there. :love Yay for innovation! Or is that improvisation?? 🤔 DH would call it jury rigging, but then he is a sailor. And I digress.

Great looking deer fence and bean trellis.
