Weekly Chick Growth - Marans, Olive Eggers, Cream Legbar, Buff Orphington, Wyandotte

Week 16

I'm waiting for signs of point of lay right now. The girls probably have several weeks to go, but combs and wattles are beginning to grow bigger and darken. Especially my Legbar (Freida) and Wyandotte (Opal). The Buff Orphington (Peep) is a week younger than everyone else. My black hen (Blanche) is slowly getting red rather than black in her comb.

Do you have an update? Did your Wyandotte lay eggs?

Does "more red"
mean pullet or cockerel...or are you just noting an observation? =)
The four I have now are definitely ladies. I am watching how red their combs are becoming because they are close to laying age. When pullets mature to laying age, their combs and wattles become plump, shiny, and bright red.
