Spring is in the air, and Tractor supply has chicks for sale. This is my 3rd year with chickens. I picked up a dozen chicks at TS a week ago and am not sure what they are. Hoped you might be able to help. There are two different types. The first type is almost solid black and all had a white star on the top of their head. They seem to be coming up with dark feathers. The other type, and I only have a couple of these are black with a white throat and white under parts. They have a partially white face with dark bars along the side of the face. I think the solid black ones might be barred rocks? I thought they were going to be black-sex-links, but I don't think that is what they are now. Don't know what the others are.
I uploaded a little bit of video of the whole bunch on YouTube. It should be visible there in another couple of hours. The video looks weird because it is under a heat light, so the color is hard to see, but you can see the markings.
Any ideas what they are?
Thanks,
Here's the link to the YouTube video of the chicks: http://youtu.be/XmqCxjwLnvs It is active now.
