What did you do in the garden today?

Watered my garden yesterday because the flood they said was gonna happen never did didn’t even rain at all. Using wood ash on my plants as a dust seems to be keeping the cabbage moths away

I've decided to try an experiment... My favorite chicken - a 7 yr old Buff Orpington named Red - has developed cancer around her beak. According to the Poultry vet at University of Arkansas, there is no real cure. Can't operate because where it is... So basically the best I can do is make her comfortable. So far, she has been eating and drinking like normal. Very active...

Well, I've read some studies showing promise around Ivermectin as a cancer treatment. So I'm sure you can see where this is going... I have some ivermectin horse paste. I'm applying it topically and inside her mouth every single day... I'll take pictures (ideally) every day to see if there is any change.

I really have nothing to lose... The picture showing the inside of her mouth is from 6/28. It has grown quite a bit since then. The other pictures were taken this evening.

I love this kind of stuff! I really hope it works or at least slows the progression :fl

Oh yeah... How's this for perplexing? I have some Amish Paste tomatoes that are growing so huge, they look like oxheart tomatoes... 🤔

Decided to make the homemade tomato soup from the recipe below.

https://www.spendwithpennies.com/fresh-tomato-soup/

Needless to say, I wasn't super impressed. We generally cook with a lot of spices though so I had to dress it up. Added way more salt, pepper and garlic powder (on top of the 4-5 cloves fresh from the garden). Also added the whipping cream, some red wine, Italian seasoning, and thyme. Oh, and some grated Parmesan cheese. I still feel like it's a little bland but much better than it was...
I sautee garlic and onions in olive oil, add Italian seasoning, one pint of tomato sauce I canned last year let simmer a bit then add some chicken broth about half a pint to start. When flavor is where you want add heavy whipping cream and basil. Then Parm.
