What did you do in the garden today?

Well it wasnt the garden. With the new place, we havent gotten a garden spot "scratched" out yet (see what i did with that lol). However, I did mow and plug my front yard (1/3 acre). The yard wasnt kept up or groomed for several years so i have a yard of weeds, but not for long. Since February i've been spraying broad leaf killer and this month did the pre-emptive granules. lol Tomorrow i'm plugging it again then sowing Bermuda Grass down.

Has anybody on here ever used citrus blossoms for anything? They are coming down right now off of my grapefruit and lemon trees. It seems a shame to waste them.. they smell so good!
could you boil them on the stove and smell the house up? I have a special pot i call my witches caldron where every once in a while i will boil rosemary, citrus, apple peels, etc and it makes the house smell wonderful.

I always wanted to make soap and perfume. I bet you can find a way to extract the sent and use it. Google "flower petal perfume making".

Good idea. I tried googling "what to do with grapefruit and lemon blossoms" and came up with almost nothing, which surprised me. I didn't even think to look up flowers in general.

Just make pot pourri. I’m sure that’s spelled incorrectly. LOL!

Haha that's sort of what I'm doing, since they are sitting in a bowl on my kitchen table :). They do produce a subtle nice smell in the room, I think.

I've done that with apples and cinnamon a couple times, but then I end up craving pie. Now when I want the smell I make a pie preemptively, lol.

here's a picture of one of our many daffodils coming into bloom. This is the largest bunch In think. I will have to split it this year. There's also some purple crocus on the right side. They are well into bloom now and will begin to lose their petals soon. If you look closely, you'll also notice two bunches of wider leaves towards the brick wall (front of house). Those are alliums that will not flower for several weeks still, but are once off DW's favorite flowers. I planted 4 or 5 in total 2 years ago. They're not cheap bulbs.

OMG! We have daffodils everywhere up here? I have yellow and white in various places. And its one plant the chickens don't touch! Unfortunately, our 3 day event was canceled. But they're everywhere up here thanks to Sally Snipes! https://www.facebook.com/Julian-Daffodils-1553863608197877/

I always buy my DH big "toys" for his B-day etc too. Total win-win.
I love the BI. Maui is home and closest to my heart but if I were to move again I'd go to the BI for acreage so we could have horses, garden, lots of chickens and few neighbors. We actually have a few acres over there but are still tied to this island for now. Plus we would have to start from scratch and DH aint feeling it. I'd be gone in a second if i could. Nice Cadillac complaint... :p

If he can saw it, chop it, drill it, or cut it...its all good! :lau

Yes, BI is eggsactly our pace too! I think that might be the one island DH could tolerate...maybe I need to throw him into the plane blindfolded.

Love the photo of you and Maddy lol. You know how they say we look like our pets... maybe our pets look like us?!!!
Stay well all!!

I love my "mat mat" and she goes to town with me too. I park the car and she roosts on the top of the passenger seat until I come back. She's my shadow. And yes we look like our pets or vice versa! My mom still calls my husband "Guinness" -- the first dog we adopted together as kids. Don't have the heart to tell mom she calls DH by Guinness. All is good.
