What did you do in the garden today?

Yes, the seed heads. I haven’t cleaned out or packaged up most of the seeds yet, I’ll probably keep putting that off. 🙃 Some of that is just me being lazy but I don’t need them packaged right away, they’re not all finished and I have enough fall stuff to keep me busy.
Just a quick note, if you just want to propagate the oregano you can just pull up some of a plant with roots and plant that somewhere else. I planted a few oregano plants 6 years ago and it comes back every year. It’s a little invasive and reseeds itself.

I planted one small oregano plant. It's spread. A lot. I never need to buy oregano again.
A good place to be in! :D

I’m aware, and actually the roots are optional, I had a bunch of cuttings I’d thrown outside take root after the fact, that’s the plant producing this year’s seeds. But I like having seeds as a backup (I lost 90% of my indoor plants to spider mites a few years back and had to start over. Never again!) and I have a seed library I like to donate to.

I’ve tried 4 different methods that usually work for me - some are new like insta pot w an ice bath afterwards. All I can think is I need to let the eggs age like a couple of weeks b4 I do this - let them shrink some. That’s what I’m trying now.
I let the eggs age a couple weeks, put room temp eggs in the boiling water and then plunge into an ice bath. Leave them to sit a bit and actually cool, then peel. Usually works fine.

I bought one of those 20V rechargeable battery operated 6-inch chain saw to prune small branches off my trees. There was a larger 12 inch one, but I went with the smallest one since I have an electric powered one if I need to cut large branches. I bought it from Walmart on an impulse.

I was surprised to see the palm brand corn beef locked in small clear plastic cases. I bought 4 of them and they removed the cases at the checkout register. It must be a hot item, since the Libby's brand was left out like other can goods.
That is so sad. Gotta lock up food because people are either starving and steal it or steal and then sell it on Amazon for twice the price in the store.

bought some hyacinth and tulip bulbs.

anyone canned chicken/ducks with bones so that bones are soft and edible? there was a girl on the island I lived before that has a brother who makes it that way. she moved to another island so I cannot find out how to do it. if I understood well her brother does it in a pressure canner. I know he puts pieces of muscovy ducks in jars. is there any other way to can meat in jars except in a pressure canner?
No, you must pressure can meat. I can two chicken thighs at a time in pint jars and the bones come out soft enough I’m not worried about the dogs eating them.

The plant on the left is what I had my husband remove this weekend. It looks so much better. I will try to get a picture uploaded.

Cleaned all the wireweed and invasive grass out of the flower beds by the house. I've had nothing but trouble getting stuff to grow in these beds. I've lost at least 3 rose bushes and 2 peonies in those beds. I've tried chamomile, daisies, calendula, dahlias, ranunculus, and various other seeds. No luck...

Currently I have one remaining rose bush that's BARELY hanging on. I've got a lilac bush that's about 32" tall despite being nearly 4 yrs old. I've got about 10 irises that actually grew despite putting probably 30 bulbs in there. The only thing that has somewhat grown well are canna lilies although the grasshoppers have shredded them to the point that they haven't grown a single flower...

I'm thinking about planting some spare tulip bulbs in there... But I gotta figure out a good summer flower that doesn't resemble wireweed when it sprouts... Something I can clearly recognize isn't a weed
Annual or perennial?
