What did you do in the garden today?

We went to Lowe’s and I got a zucchini plant. There were four in the pot, three I could pant so those are in. DH got me a succulent and this yellow and green thing, I can’t remember what it’s called right now. There are three separate plants in there so I ran the hose to get the ground wet and will plant them tomorrow. So far the chickens and ducks haven’t eaten it

Started trimming trees. I need Igor to bring out his chainsaw so we can cut back a large limb in the front of the lilac in the middle there. Lemon tree will be more symmetrical when I’m done, even if it reduces the yield later. When they’re all done I’ll wrap the trunks in burlap to prevent sunscald and discourage new growth. I think this will open up the walkway back to the compost bins and let more air flow through there.

First compost bin is covered and about half full so far

Today the weather looks bright, sunshine and blue sky. I will be spending time in the garden to tidy up and have some quality time with my feather kids.

So much rain means an overgrown of vegetation. Need trimming and cutting.

3 of my chickens were euthanize at the Vet and I asked the Vet if I can buried them in my garden, they told me Yes so I did that. Recently I read somewhere it says that it is not recommended because the medication does remain in the soil for many years and if any of the animals eat it....bad.bad....!

Thinking about earth worms eat the buried chicken. Live chickens eat the earth worms.

Raising chickens is wonderful, I hate the part where it is time to let go. I want to be able to set them free at home by me instead of the Vet, but I have not been able to emotionally and mentally come to do that final stage.
