What did you do in the garden today?

I forgot to tell everyone that we went to the feed store and I asked if they were going to get some chicks in and they said that they had ordered 300 but only received 100 and in 30 minutes they were sold out. I don't want to buy chicks from the hatchery but I might have to unless I can get some from the nursery just up the road from me. I don't know if they sell their chicks but I seriously need to get more.

Yes I just hope that I can get some more this year because I now have 7 or 8 people that want eggs from me instead of paying 10$ and change for a dozen at the store.

That's why I said I can check with the nursery but I don't know very many people because I would prefer to be at home.

I charge 4.25 (and loose money at that price)
I have a steady customer base, but have cut it back due to the age of the girls. I need to add 6 and they'll take another 6 months to get going.

I picked up an incubator at TSC last fall on 90% off.
I love having my own chicks, BUT I hate it when I have to get rid of roos.

I'm not sure if I really want to try incubating my own but it might come down to I either do it or I just don't get anymore chickens.

Our stores are charging $6 - $9/dozen. An 18-pack is between $10 - $14. Crazy.

I charge $4/dozen or $5/18-pack for my eggs. $5/dozen for duck eggs. I do have some people who buy eggs from me but I regularly give 10 - 15 dozen per week to the food pantry.
