What did you do in the garden today?

OH but the buyer who WANTS to escape the city, but still be close to it to have the mystical "country" life would love to buy it.
(If they could manage the mortgage rates ATM)
Oh, I'm certain we'd have a buyer within a day if we want to sell. Our property values have doubled in 5 yrs and we live in one of the top 5 school districts in the entire state.

If I wasn't faced with the threat of duplexes going up behind my property, I'd likely not consider moving. Our property is 5 acres so there's still plenty of room between us and our neighbors. We also have lots of old, ancient oak trees all over the property which also lends to the secluded, private feeling.

But as the saying goes... 😂

I did toss a small bucket of rabbit poop into the garden. That was my only gardening activity. But, I did get 6 chicks that successfully hatched in the incubator this weekend. Unfortunately, I also had 1 chick that only managed to get about half out before it died. Plus, there were 4 other eggs that showed no sign of doing anything.
I have a second incubator going that should be hatching this coming Saturday or Sunday. I'm hoping to get another 6 ( or more) from this hatch. (10 eggs). That will refresh my dwindling flock of hens (hopefully, there will be more pullets than roos!)

ask your kids if they are interested in homesteading. if not you can stay there. we are getting older and won't be able to do much work. 5 acres are big enough to deal with neighbors. my 2 cents.

(btw who says the guy will live long enough to build?)

We bought 2 sleeves of them but are trying to use up our Ball lids first! So frustrating when you know you wiped everything clean and they don't seal.
Yes it is! I had three out of five fail yesterday and those were brand new lids. I feel like I wasted a lot of time and effort when I could have just thrown the food into the freezer and been done with it. Not to mention the expense. I will never buy another ball lid again. I’m getting new lids to use for canning, the ball I can still use for vacuum sealing or just as a lid on a jar until they’re gone.

I moved the seeds I started outside to germinate since it's going to be so nice this week.

I didn't get time today to make it down to the garden to sow cold weather veggies in the ground. Hopefully I will get time to do it tomorrow.

Also had a conversation with DH about maybe buying some property further away from town and building a house. While I absolutely LOVE my current house, I'm worried about the area getting more new construction every year. I live right on the edge of town but my house is still very secluded and private. Our neighbor (a developer) decided to sell his house next to us but retained the 4 acres behind my property because he wants to put duplexes back there someday. 😡🤬😡🤬😡 He refuses to sell it to us even though that property USED to be part of our lot. He basically swindled it from the previous homeowner who was being scammed by a woman who only married him to steal his money.

Anyway, I've spent 5 years putting in fruit trees and nice perennial veggies, berries, etc... As much as I want to get further from town, I'd have to walk away from all that work and bounty. Just sucks!

It would probably be expensive but…hire a tree moving service so you can take the fruit trees with you?

Mine work just fine. LED daylight shop lights.
Had them for going on 6 years.

I hope mine do too, I have no idea what I could use them for if they don’t work out as grow lights.
