What did you do in the garden today?

I had 14 bags of topsoil delivered yesterday afternoon. I moved them to behind the garage this morning. They’re all soaking wet so of course they’re super heavy. I may try to move a few bags to the bed where the potatoes are going this year. It’s not a straight shot to that bed. I have to lift the bag up 2 feet high then drag it to the raised bed. I’ll see if I can get one or two moved. All my seedlings are getting their secondary leaves. I noticed my orange azalea bush is getting ready to bloom. One of my lilac shrubs is getting ready to bloom as well. Fingers crossed no overnight temperatures below 25F anymore.

Magnolia, phlox and red buds are done blooming, what a show they put on this year! My lilac bushes are all blooming except one, I have 6 so far...love them so much I keep planting more. Irises, daylilies, and lily of the valley are all up, and there are buds all over my peonies. Love this time of year, so excited with each new thing that pops out of the ground.

It's only been about 2 months, and I see roots coming out of an experimental air layering pod filled with stringy sphagnum peat moss. I am kind of surprised, this mango tree usually takes 4 to 6 months to grow roots with coco coir. However, I think it's because of the way I applied the Hormex No. 8 rooting hormone to the prepared surface. I used a tiny painter brush and dapped it in water and made a paste before spreading it around.

I have other pods that I put on a month later with a peat and perlite mix, so I will be able tell if it was the substrate or method of applying the Hormex no. 8 rooting powder.

I am putting things like that in a couple buckets so it's not so heavy
