What did you do in the garden today?

I can finally get out to the garden. It's windy and cool but not raining. I have to make sure Athena hasn't been out there digging and Wally hasn't been out there laying down on the garden.

Our grandparents were far more adaptable than current generations. Even me... Gen X. I've had to remind myself more than once that I don't (usually) need a specialized tool to do something. I just need to FITFO (figure it the F out). Get creative and keep trying if it doesn't work.

Tasted the honeysuckle cordial made with the simple syrup... Incredible. Truly summer in a bottle.

Nettle— nettle and mint tea is WONDERFUL, it is a great lymphatic cleanser.

Parsnips- I love them!!
I got all the towels washed and hanging on the line.
I am in the garden weeding and pruning. I gave the chickens a bucket of herbs and weeds. The rest will go in the liquid fertilizer jug.

@Grandmas Coop , I started my bucket of liquid weed fertilizer last week. I'd already had water and chicken run nuggets in a bucket breaking down, so I just started adding weeds to that bucket.

The first ones I put in are soft and fermenting, with lots of bubbles forming on top. I dropped another big handful of weeds in today and sloshed them around.

How much do you dilute yours when you use it in the garden? I've been adding around 10 parts water to 1 part weed tea.

To start I put enough water to cover what I put in and can stir with my stick . Then I just add
Water to the soup as needed.

Much nicer weather today. Highs of 71F. I got the new raised bed planted with peas and added radish seeds next to a row of baby bok choi. Then I went to the front yard and tilled and raked the bare patch to plant grass seed. I watered it well and good golly, when I turned the spigot off the water kept flowing. The antique shut off valve was rusted frozen. I turned off the main water valve and started looking for a plumber. I found what looked like a good one, fingers crossed. They showed up 30 minutes later and 2 hours later they installed a new valve and cleaned up the site. I was pleasantly surprised it only cost $400. The last town I owned a house was closer to Boston and it cost $500 just for the plumber to show up. This one less than $90 to show up. Thank goodness. Not sure what I’ll be able to do in the garden tomorrow. It’s supposed to be warmer but windy. I also need to go to the grocery store and do laundry. Good news is the peach tree is starting to burst out in blossoms as is my Gala apple tree. There’s a little life awakening in my hanging strawberry garden.
